5 signs that you need to call an electrician

As one of the oldest electrical contractors in the UK, we have seen pretty much everything when it comes to electrical work in the commercial sector.

And here are 5 of the most common signs that you may need to call us for electrical repairs.

1 -The Smell of Burning / Unusual Smells

It may come from outlets, switches or around electrical powered equipment such as office computers and production equipment. The unusual smell may be electrical based and you should call our commercial and industrial electrical team to investigate.

2 – Flickering Lights

While the most common cause of a flickering light is the light bulb, if you have replaced it and the light is still flickering then it could be a sign that the electrical wiring in your facility has a problem.

3 – Unusual Sounds

If you can hear unusual sounds coming from electrical appliances, plug sockets, lights and switches, it may be a cause of faulty, damaged or worn out wiring. Hissing and clicking sounds are the most common and you should call our 24/7 call out team to investigate.

4 – Blown Breakers / Fuses

The electrical demands on commercial facilities is always growing. In a hotel for example, the need to power laptops, mobile phones, TV’s, hair dryers, showers and so much more can put a strain on the electrical demands of the buildings electrical supply. If you are finding that the breakers cannot handle the electrical load of your commercial premises then our electrical contractor team can install a new more powerful system to handle the demands.

5 – Electrical Shocks

With the number of safety features integrated into every day life, if you receive an electrical shock from a switch then this is a serious safety hazard and needs to be dealt with immediately. In most cases, it will be a simple re-wiring issue but needs to be dealt with asap.

There are some business decisions where peace of mind is essential. That’s the principle on which the Fulton family founded the company and its electrical services all those years ago, and it’s just as important today.

When problems occur, time is money, so it’s paramount to minimise any downtime. This means ensuring our task force of our 300+ staff have the very best skills and resources, literally at their fingertips. With this in mind HF has over the years made large-scale investments in technology. Now, a co-ordinated electronic diary, linked by GPS satellite signals to our operatives, ensures we are able to provide the most efficient and responsive service possible, whether on planned or emergency call-outs. By identifying the exact locations of our engineers, we can provide accurate estimated times of arrival, eliminating unnecessary stress and cost.

If you would like to know more about our Electrical Services, examples of the work we have done in this sector or if you have any questions about our commercial or industrial electrical services that you are looking for, please call 0800 783 9480 or email info@hf-group.co.uk.
